Use your photography skills to raise awareness of our conservation and community efforts and witness some of Africa’s most exquisite wildlife, capturing their magnificence through the lens. Our Photography project is dedicated to providing interns with the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of excellent photographic opportunities whilst enlarging our photography database that is being used for marketing and educational purposes.
Take on exciting tasks and challenges in iconic locations. From capturing the magnificence of the incredible Victoria Falls, to exploring the Zambezi National Park, where the wildlife will never fail to produce incredible photo opportunities.
Become fully involved with the essential part of our ALERT conservation program structure, whilst accompanying our lion cubs on the bush as their natural instincts come to life. Be inspired by ALERT’s work within wildlife conservation, whilst researching in the Zambezi National Park. Collect data as a vital part of improving species conservation management. From tracking hyena to recording and photographing giraffe sightings, volunteers play a vital role in our conservation efforts of this World Heritage Site and are immersed into what we aspire to do.
Contribute into Conservation Efforts
As a volunteer on this project, you will use your skills at the frontline of African conservation efforts in the Zambezi National Park, documenting and assisting field researchers active in the area. Volunteers accompany research drives, bush walks and night drives with camera to photos document any observations and sightings. Volunteers skills are particularly important when they join our Elephant or Giraffe research to focus on ID kits. The skill offered by someone familiar with a camera and able to take good photos facilitate pouring through the photos and building ID kits.
Your main task will be:
- Assisting our team of researchers in documenting sightings of wildlife
Support our Project Team
As an intern on this project, you will have a chance to get involved in marketing not only giving the opportunity of gaining invaluable experience in professional usage of photo and video material but making a difference in Africa.
Marketing is key to the success of bringing volunteers, interns and guests to Africa which enable us to put much needed funding back into the various conservation and community development initiatives.
Your main tasks will be:
- Supporting our marketing department with unique social media content
- Photographing volunteers at work for marketing purposes
- Photographing our cubs on bush walks and resident captive lions for educational purposes
Enhance you Photography Portfolio
As an intern on this project, you will get countless amount of opportunities to increase your portfolio as a wildlife and travel photographer: from the world famous Victoria Falls, the mighty Zambezi River, great wildlife, captive lions to a vibrant culture of Zimbabwe.
Your main tasks will be:
- Practicing many different types of photography from landscape, wildlife, night time to portrait and reportage photography

Adventure and Adrenaline calls, from Bungee jumping against the falls, to sitting right on the edge of the mighty waterfall in devils pool, all as you discover the legacy of David Livingstone. Accelerate your wanderlust and discover incredible wildlife as you cross over into Chobe National Park, Botswana for game viewing. Experience in true style the 4th largest river in Africa- home to hippos, crocodiles and many more incredible species. Enjoy a stunning dinner cruise, whilst encountering all that the Zambezi River has to offer!
Where will you stay?
Where else better to be than right on the doorstep of the mighty Victoria Falls! You will live in a beautiful and rustic volunteer village in the Fuller Forest. Just 16 km from the centre of town, you are not far from the buzz of town, whilst also the tranquility of our neighbouring national parks.
